Left with countless scraps of quarter-sawn Red Oak, each too big to toss and too beautiful to burn, the ‘drop-cuts’ from a commission sat in a corner of our shop for over a year. Turning something from nothing, they were milled into courses and laid up into a top. Small gaps left between lengths, preserve the story of the material and define the character of the piece.
